Doing the Hanky Panky

Took the kids out to a near by park to watch Tommy James and the Shondells rock last night. The concert was great!!! I had a great time and the kids did too, even though they were soooo tired by the end. Here's a clip of them dancing (at least I think that's what they are trying to do) to their favorite Tommy song.

Where Is My Pot Of Gold?

After a bit of a rain shower my daughter called me to the window to see a rainbow. I grabbed the camera since it was a fairly bright one and took the kids outside to view it. At first I thought it was just a typical rainbow, a very nice one at that. But I would soon discover Is something that in my 32 years of experience I have never seen. One end of the bow landing behind my neighbors trees.
The other end of the bow vanishing behind the tree line next to our house. At this point I decided to walk off the porch and down to the end of the driveway to see the rainbow. I have no idea why I did this, but I'm glad I did.

Here is my neighbors field with the rainbow touching down. I have never ever before seen the end of a rainbow. It was so cool. I was disappointed to not find a pot of gold or a cute leprechaun
dancing around.

So glad my kids got to see this. Beautiful isn't it.

My Babies Are Gone

So yesterday was the first day of school. It was sheer coas in the morning trying to get back into a routine. I was trying to time getting the kids ready me ready for work and all the chores done. We made it but it was nuts. Today was better I was more organized and could have made the bus if we wanted to but we drove to school anyway. Helped I didn't have to work today. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

I still can't believe I have a third grader when did that happen. She is so big and knows everything. Hasn't needed me to help her get ready for some time now. But the one that got me was my son. He has been babied and protected cause he's my last and I didn't want to let him grow up. I think I underestimate what he's capable of cause I still think of him as the baby.
At meet the teacher night he asked the teacher if he had to do stuff when he came back to school. I could have died the whole room full of parents laughed. I was sure the first day would be a disaster. He woke up ready to go. When we got there he told me he knew where he was going. So I let him lead He went straight to his room, didn't need me at all to show him where to go. He tried to say goodbye at the classroom door, but I said buddy I want to stay. He walked in found his locker on his own, put his stuff away and found and sat down at his desk. he really didn't need me. Boy did that sting!
His day was great or Awesome was the word he used. This morning He woke up asking do I have to go to school today, Awesome. I hope he continues to like it.
His sister said the bus ride home went well. That was another worry. This morning both kids wanted to ride the bus. I took them cause I wanted to. We have the rest of the year to do the bus thing starting tomorrow.
I couldn't believe how much he learned in one day. His printing of his name is much more readable. He is now recognizing letters and sight words. I was shocked at how quickly he was picking them up. Little booger surprised me with how well he's adjusting. Teacher says he's a little chatty, which I don't doubt a bit. My kids are the social directors. So happy with the school year so far hope it continues.

Your Cheatin Heart

This is Our son's rendition of your cheatin heart at the family reunion. Thanks to our host for her talent and patience with our little superstar. I couldn't stop smiling while he was preforming. Eventhough he doesn't know most of the words he does a good job making them up.

Resolution Reached

My running buddy my hubby

Me feeling strong after the race

Remember way back in January when I shared with you all that my New year's resolution was to run a 5K marathon, well today it came true. I ran the Newtown 5K with my husband. Thanks for the support honey. I was very nervous not knowing what to expect, but it turned out to be great. We didn't get to the start line early enough and wound up towards the rear. This held

us up in the beginning. We walked for at least 30 to 40 seconds then it took a little longer to get up to full stride. It was difficult at times to pass people, having to slow our pace till we could get an opening to get around, so I feel our times could have been better. However that said I was happy with the times we ran. We finished in under 30 minutes. I placed 10th in my age division out of 18 and I placed 142 out of 228 women, and I placed 419 over all out of 556 people. I was very pleased for our first run. I am so happy to have reached my goal! I am sure there will be more races in our future, just not sure when. The highlight was after we ran they did the kids fun run. Those kids were so cute and we cheered them on. It was so nice to see folks out cheering on their loved ones during our run. People had signs and everything. There were even people we didn't know telling us how good we were doing and how strong we looked. It was good to hear those words of encouragement. We knew a couple that was running so that was cool., and my husbands co-worker lives on the course so he gave us a wave. it would have been nice to have some family or even our kids there to see us finish, but that just doesn't happen. Oh well, hubby and I had a great time crossing the finish line together. We were quite the team.

A Trip To The Terminal

Union Terminal that is. A week or two ago Hubby and I decided we would take the kids down to Union Terminal to see the Dinosaurs Alive exhibit. We had been wanting to see it all summer, but hadn't made it down yet. We figured this was our last chance since school will be starting soon. So we piled in the car and stopped off at Kroger's to pick up salads for lunch. Once there we seated ourselves in the lobby and ate. then we visited the herpitalogic society. They had a booth set up with all kinds of snakes and lizards. Kids loved it! Then we went on to see the exhibit and then watch the Dinosaur movie in the Omnimax theater. At first our son was a little scared of the big screen but soon became so interested in the movie that he forgot his fears. The next day our daughter was reciting names of dinosaurs and were they were found. She really listened. It was a great day. Mosaic tile pictures in the rotunda
